Motlow College Women's Basketball

On Friday night the Lady Bucks stayed within four points of Roane St. the entire game before falling 62-60. Saturday the Lady Bucks trailed 8th-ranked Walters St. by one point at halftime before fading in the second half and dropping a 58-34 decision.

The Lady Bucks will hope to improve their position in the TCCAA standings with a trip to Dyersburg St. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, followed by a visit to Memphis to take on Southwest Tennessee on Saturday, Feb. 13. Motlow will return home on Wednesday, Feb. 17 and host Jackson St., with tipoff scheduled for 5:30pm.

Friday's battle against Roane St. was a gutsy effort by Motlow against a taller, deeper Raiderettes team. The Lady Bucks tied the score at 17-17 with just over six minutes remaining in the first half but could never take the lead.

Rebounding was the difference as Roane St. hauled down 40 boards compared to only 23 for Motlow. LaDonna Bailey led four double-figure scorers for Motlow with 15 points, including 9-12 from the foul line. Katora Fleming and Crystal Moore each added 13 points while Natalie Collins had 10. Jane Barnes pulled down a team-high nine rebounds with Moore adding six boards.

Saturday's effort was just as impressive against one of the best teams in the country. Moore led the effort with 11 points and eight rebounds while adding four steals. Fleming also scored 11 points and four steals. Poor shooting was the achilles heel for the Lady Bucks as Motlow connected on only eight of 48 shots from the field and was out-rebounded 44-22.

Homecoming Brings National Power

The Motlow Lady Bucks (1-8, 2-13) will host Roane St. on Friday, Feb. 5 and Walters St. on Saturday, Feb. 6 after their scheduled contests last weekend at Cleveland St. and Chattanooga St. were postponed due to inclement weather.

The scheduled games in Cleveland will be made up on Friday, Feb. 26, with the women scheduled to tipoff at 5pm CST. The next day, Saturday, Feb. 27, Motlow will travel to Chattanooga St. with tipoff scheduled for 1pm CST.

The Lady Bucks will have their hands full this weekend when Roane and Walters visit Copperweld Arena. Tipoff against Roane (7-4, 14-4) is scheduled for 6pm on Friday, Feb. 5. The Lady Bucks fell to Roane 82-59 on December 11 in Harriman, TN.

Homecoming 2010 will be Saturday, Feb. 6 against Walters St. The Lady Senators (11-0, 16-1) are currently ranked 8th nationally. Homecoming activities begin at 12pm on the Moore Co. campus, with tipoff scheduled Saturday at 2pm.
